Tried out a new aquazepp (LT-30 with light) yesterday, would appreciate any good advice from anyone with some experience with same as regards how much ballast they use in the unit, how to lanyard it and how to store equipment to prevent it getting sucked into the propellor etc and what equipment you have carried on the aquazepp etc

Regards
Timmy Carey:)

Brought the aquazepp on first 40 meter dive yesterday and what a brilliant dive. Have been diving the Folia with over 15 years and have never seen so much of the wreck, can't wait to try on a few more:)T.Carey

the cost of dpv's is a bit of a problem, well for me anyway I think I can "make" one cheaper???
a/ battery powered??

b/air-driven maybe something that could attach to a dive cylinder valve and be secured around the neck/collar of the cylinder???
compressed air driven

c/ nuclear reactor, fossil fuel, umbilical solar or something else equally likely to succeed.

so any ideas would be welcome but please no silly ones!!!

barrie how adout a hot air scooter given that in most dive clubs there seems to be a lot of it about so running out of fuel will not be a problem [?]

Hey,
Was also thinking of building one just mainly for the crack! What did ye use for yours? I was thinking an electric chainsaw motor, surge capacitor + battery in an old 12l alu cylinder. What do ye reckin? How did yours turn out?

Just thinking about this, shouldn't the scooter be neutral in the water?

I think a steel 12 is negative so then if you start packing batteries (heavy) and motors etc etc won't it really screw with your trim.

I had a read on http://www.gavinscooters.com/ and in the faq section he maintains he makes 'em on slightly positive/negative. Slightly positive so if you loose it you should be able to find it on the surface! Not a bad idea considering what they cost.

<never mind.... i just now spotted you're using ALU tank... wakey wakey>

Best regards,
Kevin.

Hi Barrie
Will have to reconfigure some of my kit such as reels etc , but will get over that. Instruction manual is not the best it consists of 2 pages in total(in these days where most computer manuals are nearly 50 pages). When you let the switch go the scooter should stop that didn't happen with mine at the weekend so will have to get a good lanyard and add a scooter D-ring onto my RB harness. The LT-30 is a good size am glad I didn't get a bigger one because it would take up too much space on the boat, it will definitely take a bit of getting used to. Have got permits for Lough Hyne on Saturday so Jim and myself will be playing with them for the day.Am looking forward to geeting to grips with it on the 30-40 meter wrecks like the Folio and Aud etc before going a bit deeper with it.
