Thanks for all the help selling the scooter anyway lads :)

I'm sure someone will see a good deal when they see it. Bought the scooter 3 years ago for £3500. Its never given me any problems.

So Baz you want someone to buy a slow heavy scooter because you want to buy a lighter faster x scooter? :sarcasm:

For anyone thinking of buying a scooter, it might be worth having a look at the Award Winning 'Gear Guru's Guide to Scootering'

Thanks to Dec for finding it for me again as I had been looking for it for ages online.... :)

Now that McGill has thrown his hand in and bought a X scooter Sierra, here's what he should have bought  :rocker:

Mon dieu!
Has the gr...ood McGill bought the wrong scooter??
Is there time to send it back before it gets wet??
Could it be pawned off on some 'trainee'??
Will any of his fellow divers buy the 'right' one??
Out of embarrassment alone, will it stay as dry as PT's did this year during next season??
Should the forum have a Which scooter sticky as it is so important??
So many questions...

It's a very nice bit of kit, but at €5,000 dollars and the fact you can't fly with the battery it sadly was a non runner for me!

But talking to Suzie in silent sub, they are working on a lithium battery that is under 300w/h that would be safe for airline travel but it is still in development and will take 6-12 months before they are sure everything worked out.

Another option at the moment is the Suex range which gave me lots to think about: http://www.suex.it/prodotti.asp
But with a max depth of 80m it was a non starter.

Thanks lads for all the concern of the correctness of my latest purchase...

Well if I was getting a scooter and trying to keep ahead of the Dooleys I'd want a battery that was illegal never mind unsuitable for air transport.

Where are you flying to? Are you abandoning Stewie and going international? Hanging out in Chuuk with Bishop and the other superstars?

rumour has it he's off to chuuk at some stage

i reckon next time i go abroad the only way is cargo it off, this new limit size on the 'sport' equipment makes things hard

Or you could just use your legs Ger......  :-\

I would not bring a scooter to Chuuk as it is absolutely not needed - the wrecks are not that big and it is a pleasure to swim around them in almost zero tide. Also you would have to keep 'parking' the scooter (and get back to that spot) during penetration as some of the engine rooms and ladders are quite tight.
Unless you are doing very long times or very deep wrecks, I would probably not bring the rebreather if I was going again - ideal nitrox for the depth in ally80's would be fine. I would bring the rebreather only if everyone else was doing so... or I could twin up (for the second time ever)?!  ;D

carrying a rebreather plus drysuit is fairly hard with the new restrictions

When I went technical to Greece, I booked business class to get an extra bag of 32kg in the hold. The rebreather and one 3 litre cylinder in one and the other 3 litre, a 1.5 litre OF bottle and the clothes and dry suit in the other.

I had hoped to bring an ally80 as well but I ran out of 'weight' just bringing the basic kit. Travelling by air with a rebreather is not an experience I want to repeat. You also have to have the valves removed - not just very loose as I had. They brought my bags to the gate in London and they asked me to open them. When they realised that I was a diver and the valves were loose, they relaxed but had a load of paperwork to do.

I would love a trip to Chuuk, and after seeing some of the presentations at TekDive 11 in Belguim, Jutland is back on the cards too... Saying that, this keeping up with the Dooly's isn't great for planning trips on the other side of the world...
