Thanks guys that was fantastic evening, I enjoyed every bit especially the pub 'party' afterwards... :buddies:  Life's great  :devilban: !!! I was amazed by the turnout, it's great to see so many people interested!!!
We had some technical problems all right but the audience was very understanding and patient.

Martin: mid-west/Limerick - anytime you want:))
Tell Aude I will send some details on Doolin Green Holes to Stewie as soon as I recover from the last night. If you're heading to Doolin at some stage I might even join you and take you for a spin if anyone's interested, but only light stuff, we won't be digging at the end of Mermaid's Hole, promise  :demon:

Thanks Stephen for organising everything and of course for invitation!!!
I'll let you know when the video is ready - it might be even tonight/tomorrow

Cheers

Artur

Hey Artur - you survived!  :buddies:   :devilban:

I have the podcast file in MP4/MPEG4 format - it looks and sounds good. I'll try and edit it down and get rid of some of the "breaks" later tonight.

Really enjoyable evening Artur - congrats on a very interesting and informative presentation - a very hard act to follow, me thinks!

I say 'informative' only because it has finally convinced me of the type of diving I shall NOT be doing. As I said before... open them up, warm them up, even make it deeper and put a 180m liner at the bottom .... and I'll be first in!

Glad to see that your first autograph went to a French woman - I'm never that lucky!

Cheers and thanks again,
Stewie

Yep, this is 'a safe place', ie you won't be sucked in anywhere despite the flow. Short sumped sections both downstream and upstream but I guess you already know that:)))  The place NOT TO GO would be The Pigeon Hole, due to the flow (which you WON'T notice on the surface of the sump!), but also Wolves Hole and couple of others as they seem to be just about to collapse. Still, esp. in the Cong area, before you plunge in any new site, better ask Martyn first, and if he's slow with a response, ::) , email me, I'll try to get something out of him   >:D.
But anyway, let me know if you head that way, i have some 'secret map' with loads of promising sites...:demon: :)

I'm off to Kerry tonight, Tralee looks like hiding some secrets underneath.

cheers

Artur,

Sorry, I didn't make it down to your presentation. However, I was thinking about your exploits when I made a trip down Shannon Pot  that afternoon and saw the place in full flood (so so much water). Next time you and Al are diving in the 'Backdoor to Hell'  I reckon it'll have all changed (again)!

I know I speak for all cavers by saying a big well done to DUSAC for organising the talk and also for kindly making a collection on the night for the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation. As a voluntary rescue group we rely entirely on funding and sponsorship for all our training and equipment costs. All donations are very much appreciated!

Congratulations on your talk which I have been hearing nothing but good news on. I used to work in Trinity College (and helped out with the caving club before its sad demise) and I am very pleased to see that the old place was good to you. Although, please feel free to shout if you want to test your next presentation on my MAC before you turn up for the talk (only messing).

If folk are interested in some non-diving caving I'm sure Artur and myself could arrange something. Although I'm sure he'll reserve the right to turn us all into sherpas to carry his gear for him.

Well done again.

Just a quick note to say thanks to all those who donated to the "black technical bucket" .

We managed to raise €300 and a cheque is now in the post to ICRO.

Thanks again folks!

Fair play to you for arranging it and for what I hear was an amazing talk.  Although I think all cave divers are slightly nuts (compared to trimix rebreather divers  :sarcasm:), it was from all accounts brilliant.  I'm sorry I missed it now.

Heres the recording of the talk:

http://forum.technicaldiving.ie/cave.mp4 (200MB - 1hour 40mins)

Its a bit rough round the edges (again no Artur's fault, purely mine and apologies)

I had a go at converting it to AVI and breaking it up into smaller files but it didn't work - if anyone is good at these things then feel free to clean it up.

Thanks, Stephen
