I say this in the nicest possible way,

But,

Your a nutter!

But glad to see that you didn't panic, and that you weren't afraid to ditch unnecessary gear, and also that you weren't far from a willing support crew!!

Artur, I was shocked by your report. Rick Wakeman? Seriously? Who would have thought.  ::)

Take care

S

P.S. It seems a caver/cave divers survival pack is very similar to a climbers first aid kit. A mate of mine was climbing with a Scottish lad in the Cairngorms one time and the two of them took a massive fall down a snow and ice gully. They were fine but pretty battered and well bloodied. Paul, my mate crawled over to the other lad looking for a first aid kit. "In the bag" was the response so fished it out and opened it. It contained a condom and a pack of ibuprofen. All emergency scenarios catered for!

The caves will still be there next week Artur, you know.

Laura, the cave will but I might not. And don't rush with a triumphant QED point - I'm not an idiot, please accept the fact that people might have different approaches to life, different motivations and priorities.

It's a question of principles, I'm glad you can find other exciting stuff to do in your life for whole weeks when the sun is not shining, for me nothing else do the trick and I'm not willing to compromise.

But yes, your right from your point of view, and I would also advocate avoiding the unnecessary risk while going for tourist caving or cave diving trips. If all what you want is to visit the known places then they still will be there 'next week'...

And sorry for being slightly heavy on that, I'm just tired with all that Al's the cave will be there next week  ;)

cheers

Scubadec - hmm, a nutter is a nice way, no bother;) No panicking, errr, I had a sort of 'soft knees' for a while when I saw the way back sumped, I guess it counts... :-\
Pat - sky diving?! You're mad!!! I couldn't do that, I'm afraid of heights... :-[ Beside I'm not an adrenaline seeker, far from that! All I want is to explore new places, it's just getting harder and harder these days..:))

I would be sorry to see you come to harm unnecessarily. I'll say no more on the matter.

Mind you I'd also be sorry to see it suddenly become a lot harder to access cave diving sites as a result of someone coming a cropper cave diving, so I have selfish reasons to want you to be careful as well.

Laura please..I've already said thank you for your generous offer above and you start again....   ::)  It only shows you cant really trust women' promises

By the way, it's interesting that nobody explored the underwater caves here for last 15 years but suddenly many are concerned about the access... :sarcasm: ...

I read once something like that: When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a head of a nail....
Probably irrelevant here, just a thought....

Artur,

Just a personal comment. I've heard the words "nutter", "psycho" and "cowboy" myself mentioned far too often over the years by folk when describing activities in climbing and diving. I even got a certain amount of it despite the fact that I consider my exploits quite modest indeed. Its pretty insulting and hurtful especially from folk in my club or close to me from whom I would expect better. In fact it really fucks me off. Seems like some people feel threatened when they see someone good at something and need to dismiss it as "crazy" in order to deal with the concept of doing something they could otherwise not comprehend or have the imagination or ambition to do themselves. Its pure lack of understanding on their parts. Ignore them. You do this stuff because its who you are and don't let the tut-tutters browbeat you down. Keep the reports coming - they are great and the very best of luck with your projects.

I meant "Nutter" In the best possible way, as a term to describe how he is different from most of the rest of us...... Not the usual way "nutter" it is said.

I admire what Arthur does, and I especially love the way he shows no ego in his reports, and freely dispenses his information, which he works so hard for.
But, while I admire him, I still think he is "Mad" (Also in the best possible way) It makes it easier for me to justify how f**kin scared id be in some of the holes Arthur finds himself in, and the fact that I would have given up along time before him on his quests.

The terms i use might not be the best words I could use to describe Arthur and what he does, but used (in the best possible way) they come close.
