Smartphone access to the forum

Hi,
Its my understanding that SMF is compatible with tapatalk, but needs to be activated or installed on the site. Has this been done already or is it possible with this forum?

Is it a case that you would prefer not to activate it for some reason?
I'm just wondering, because The Deco Stop in the US has this feature enabled and it could be great for iPhones to be able to access the forum through the tapatalk app.
I understand that the RSS is a great way of keeping up to date and all, but I'm just wondering about the talatalk feature.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. We were not aware of tapatalk as we don't use one of those fancy phones.

tapatalk support will be installed over the next day or two. We have another problem to sort out in the meantime. There will be an announcement here when its done.

From their website (http://www.tapatalk.com/) : Tapatalk is a forum app for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia. The app provides super fast forum access to any vBulletin, IPBoard, phpBB and SMF forums that have activated Tapatalk. Forum owner can download the free plug-in to activate Tapatalk in your forum.

Now although they offer a free app from the Apple App Store which allow you to read only they basically want you to buy the full app (which allows you to post etc.)  for $2.99 to use on your phone for reading forums. We're not fans of suggesting you buy add-ons in order to read this forum (especially when the WAP2 link works pretty well) but it probably does provide a slicker interface. We don't know as we haven't used it.

When we enable support you can try out the free app and see if you like it.

I had been using the RSS feed but it would only show the last 5 posts as a default until I edited the address I use myself. Adding ;limit=25 to the end of the link u provided in a different post gave me the most recent 25 posts. It's a shame there isn't a way to see only unread posts.

Tapatalk access to the forum has been enabled. Sorry about the delay - we had another issue to sort out with the hosting provider before it could be done.

So basically the way we think (***) it works is this - if you are a iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, and Nokia (fancy one) mobile user then you can download a free application from the like of the iPhone store to allow read only access to the forum (you can buy the full app for ability to post etc.) More details on http://www.tapatalk.com/

Works fine for me when I connect over WiFi. Once again though the forum rejects my phone when connecting over O2 3G - problem IP address again.

Thanks for the screenshots Padraig. We'll take a look at the blocked IP issue for 02 3G over the weekend and see what we can do about it.

It looks like you can post photos directly to the forum using Tapatalk using iPhone. The Android version seems to be currently broken.
