Before this weekend I knew nothing about rebreathers (Except I wanted one  :rocker:) After this weekend I know alot more about rebreathers (and I want one even more now! :bounce:).

You realise that it is a long slippery slope once you make this fatal admission  :ocdeath:!  I suggest the following wording  "Dear Mr Bank Manager,  ...."  >:D

Yes, Iv been on this slippery slope for a while now! but yes, it is getting steeper!
It will be a year or two before I seriously consider it, I still have plenty of dives to do at the level that Im at.

Dec

It turned out to be quite a good weekend even after getting blown off diving by the weather on Saturday. Simon and Paul were great, knew the rEvo inside out. I was amazed by how light and quiet the unit was. During the brief, Paul brought over a Peli case as Simon was talking about an oxygen kit and I thought he was going to show us his O2 kit in case anything went wrong, he opens the case and takes out the mini rEvo we would be using! Good to meet more of the forum members in Hugh, Ken and Jane.

For the moment I’ll stick to making bubbles but one day  :ocdeath:

Well we're back home now, I've still got the Van of Dreams to unpack and to sort out the paperwork.

It was indeed a fun weekend despite the weather. Both Paul and I enjoyed it and we are determined to return in the future.

Saturday was spent with Hugh, preparing him ready for his initiation in a few weeks time. Hugh took to the unit no problem and he was in a different suit so all familiarity with his equipment was gone but he didn't show it.

Sunday was to be a more difficult day. The weather had made the visibility reduce inside harbour and as the day progressed it worsened outside. Great credit to the lads they all dived like seasoned CCR divers in what was a big surge.

The second dive on Sunday proved to be my nemesis, I just hadn't quite sealed the bottom of the drysuit zip and whilst wading in I felt the cold water ingress. As I hurriedly tried to get out of the water to a shallow spot where I could attend to the problem I was starting up the slip way when it lived up to it's name and I slipped and fell off the side back into the water. I didn't hear one person laughing out loud but it must have looked bloody funny to the onlookers.

Ken and Jane came along and thank you for providing surface cover on Saturday and your company on Saturday evening.

We met Geoff as well whom provided us with tip top accommodation and a briefing on the harbour.

A really great weekend spent with great people.

Thanks everyone!

Oakridge is in Croatia at the moment.
I'd say he will post when he gets back.

Hi Dec it went well Simon is good craic but gives a tough thorough course. I have my unit home  although i have been in Croatia since the course so I have not had a chance to get it wet yet. I am planning to drop in in the morning just to get back into the water. I am happy with my choice of unit though as said else where when you spend that sort of cash you would want to be. I hope to rack up the hours quick as my diving open circuit had been progressing well and I was doing some very good dives so do not wish to take a backward step.
Maybe we shall catch up around Malin again. Has the head been beating you up yet as far as going for one yourself ?
