Intro to Cave next month in Ireland

Hi guys,

I'll be running Intro to Cave and Cavern/Intro to Cave combo sometime next month in Ireland. Sites: Mermaid's Hole  and Hell in Doolin, co Galway. I will put some info on my blog soon.

i be interested in that oh crap i am already full cave trained can i go back ha ha enjoy might tag along if funds pick up or i get job as got nothing at minute

Silly me, sure it's Clare...:))

But I do think about Galway too much recently.... 'bout the Galway caves of course;)))

Maybe PM Arthur...But if ye want to do it in Doolin, I dont think that he can predict in advance when its suitable, With the conditions needed in Doolin, id say yer looking at 5 Days notice Maximum.

Dec's right,  the major problem with the course is the weather in Doolin, hopefully it will happen in the next 4 weeks. Watch this space.

INTRO TO CAVE  course syllabus:

You will learn the following:

•   How to properly deploy a guideline.
•   How to properly follow a guideline.
•   Use of safety reel in lost diver procedures.
•   Use of safety reel in lost line drill.

S-drill and skills during all dives:

•   Demonstrate adequate pre-dive planning.
•   Equipment check and gear matching.
•   Bubble check.
•   Demonstrate specialized propulsion techniques in varying types of flow.
•   Demonstrate proper buoyancy control.
•   Demonstrate proper body posture.
•   Demonstrate proper stress analysis (detection and management).

In-water skills during cave dives:

•   Properly deploy a guideline.
•   Properly use line markers.
•   Properly follow a guideline with eyes open and closed (simulating loss of visibility).
•   Air share with a buddy with eyes open, following the guideline.
•   Air share with a buddy with lights off, eyes closed and use touch contact, following the guideline.
•   Remove and replace mask while in contact with guideline.
•   Demonstrate light / hand -signals and touch contact.
•   Conservation and awareness techniques.
•   Referencing as back-up navigation.
•   Demonstrate adequate anti-silting techniques.
•   Simulate a primary light failure, and use back light to exit the cave.
•   Demonstrate lost line and lost diver drills.

Right , I had an impression today that there might be a confusion about it. To become a fully certified cave diver there are 3 steps:

Cavern

Intro to cave

Full cave

There's no other way around. So the Intro to cave is actually an advanced level of the cave diving education. All cavern diving training happens within linear 60m from the nearest exit and within a light zone  :demon:.  The training also takes place in Doolin Green Holes, in Hell Complex and Mermaid's Hole.
