I'd be interested in a meetup/talk in the Dublin area too, as its nearer than Cork.

Thankyou everyone for the emails and training requests so far. I will email everyone back who has emailed tomorrow night.

At the moment I am looking to be in Ireland for at least 2 weeks. 4th July upto 17th July, I may also be able to extend this a further week 18th July to 24th July if more training dates are needed..? I need to be back in UK for Tek Camp on the 27 and 28th July as a guest of Apeks and Steve Bogaerts - talking about apeks regulator package and the RSMS system.

If you have more questions please email me ASAP. Regards, Steve

Hi Thanks Ken,

It looks like so far there will be one or two courses in Cork and one in Dublin so far. I will also arrange a presentation talk in both Cork and Dublin for those not booked onto training and want to find out more information on sidemount diving.

Cheers, Steve

Well I met Steve and tagged along on 1 of his training days during the week in Cork. After meeting the guy in person and talking probably endless rubbish to him. I must say his knowledge and helpfulness is unbelievable. I was already sidemount trained but after only spending a few hours with Steve and his 2 trainees I learned a great deal and would like to thank him for all the good advice he gave.

I also went to the preseentation and have to say I wish we could have recorded it as it was very interesting and insightful. Maybe some1 in dublin might pot cast it as its a great presenation. As Steve says a good instructor will actually save you alot of time playing around with sidemount gear. I messed around with sidemount configuration for last 2 years with different set ups and configurations and after watching him for the day I learned ten times more than I could have learned myself or off the internet.

I must also say I checked out the new razor harness and wing and its the best thing i have seen in a while for sidemounting. I have a transpac set up for sidemount and have even used the nomad but this harness is just perfect as it has all components of the other type of systems but more compact and neat. If i had the money i would ditch what i had and buy one myself.
Anyone interested in this type of system cant go wrong with having Steve teach them or buying the new Razor system.
Just want to say thanks Steve for all the info and help and hope to see you back here for some training soon.

Nice one Bob. I was one of those two trainees. Those of you who manage to attend the presentation evenings will know how knowledgable and passionate Steve is. I thought before the course how is this going to take 4 days, and at the end I still wanted more time on all the "extras" such as multiple stage rigging etc.

I've just finished my tec45 this weekend, so went back to a STD twinset, albeit with 12kg's on it. Still really liked diving it, but as I was hauling it back up the steps and hill at St Johns point, or doing a gas shutdown drill, the case for side mount became very strong.

Apart from this the biggest benefit is the ability to easily stay in trim in any body orientation. Not easy in a heavy twinset, especially if you have no air in the wing.

Re practicality, after learning entries and exits from Steve, I'd rather dive side mount. Even in a heavy sea on a boat I'd rather kit up in a side mount rig than try to balance my twinset and stages.

Now the only question is when to make the switch. Def going razor as part of the course custom fits it and you get all your measurements.

Big thanks to Steve and Greg, my fellow convert. Also to Declan (Diving Dec) for tec 45 this weekend.

Hi Everyone,

I have just been at TEKCamp the last few days, was a great event. Look out for the next one, anyway due to a few people in Ireland asking me about future courses.

I am looking to head back over to Ireland in approx 2 or 3 weeks (mid August).

Does anyone want to join a sidemount training course..? It will be done over 3 days, ideally 4 days for a more relaxed schedule.

Please email me on steve626508@googlemail.com for more information and with any questions you have etc.

Cheers, Steve
