Ireland's first JJ-CCR Instructor
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:08:43 PM »
Congrats to Stephen McElhone of Seriously Scuba (www.seriouslyscuba.co.uk) for completing his Instructor course on the JJ-CCR with Dave Thompson in Malta today.

I'm sure he could be persuaded to let ye have a peek at the unit if you drop him a line - contact details on the website above.

That's him teaching on the JJ-CCR and APD rebreathers (Vision/Evolution/Inspiration) now.

Well done Stephen!

Congrats, I'm sure there are more than a few who would like to get trained up on this unit.

Well done!

Jaysus lads he's not even back home yet  ;D

I've been with Stevie on some grand old deep adventures and him initially diving his Inspiration Classic, later on his Vision and most recently on his Sentinel. I'm sure he'll be diving the JJ next time we're on the Rosguill.

Ah Dec, way to put me on the spot!
As stephen has said I currently have the inspiration vision which I really like, it has never let me down and I still enjoy diving it. I also have a sentinel which is currently for sale. It was bought because of its clear chest, scrubber rating and with a view to one day doing the instructor course on it. As time went on any time I went to dive I assembled the inspiration, I had a few problems with the sentinel which was always sorted in a timely manner at the factory (software & batteries).
The jj ccr has some similarities to the inspiration, possibly because they were both designed by Dave Thompson! However the ability of this unit to take a range of different sized bottles (it has been tested with 12's) and the fact it is light enough to pack as ordinary luggage is a big plus for a travelling diver.
As to what my everyday unit will be, to be honest the jj wins!

I have heard good reviews about them on YD so I was wondering what your opinions would be on it. Someday id hope to buy a RB myself, so its nice to have a range of opinions on each model.
Hopefully see you for a day next year so!

Dec,

You are starting to sound a lot like Laura N.  Just bite the bullet and go for it.  One of the best things I ever did.
