Ireland: new record in CAve Diving!!!
« on: May 08, 2008, 06:25:02 PM »
OK Guys,

I think it's time to say sad true about Irish cave diving : Ireland must be a  country with the highest rate of Cave Diving Forums per Active Cave Diver in the whole world : 3/3 ... ( I still think this figure is slightly overestimated)... and I AM NOT trying to be sarcastic... You can not have forum if you don't dive, I mean you can but what kind of forum it is?  For how long can you discuss equipment configuration? In the small community like this isn't it better to discuss and compare it on a dive site? Maybe I'm wrong and it doesn't work this way...I used to think that spirit of cave diving was in exploration and  adventure but apparently it can be enjoyed in many different ways...
Anyway, as we experienced fine weather for a third month in a row many dive sites opened up its' secrets in recent weeks confirming that Ireland has one of the most unique system of underwater caves in Europe if not in the World. Also gave us better understanding of what Martyn Farr used to say about it  - that it remains mostly unexplored...

For those interested in both -  active and armchair cave diving - RIDERS ON THE STORM Team keeps on publishing their reports on Irish Cave Diving section of cavediver.net  ;)

Slan

arthur i think you are right there is probably only a few of us cave diving and the reports are already up on the cavediver net. maybe we can post here if we dive a new site cause continuous exploring reports are of no real use as there is so little cave divers here.

Yea guy's this is mainly a wreck divers forum and it was set up principly to promote Technical Diving around Ireland and to act as a forum for that purpose as we do have some of the best wreck diving around Europe lying off our shores and it seems possiby some of the best unexplored caves - who knows.

I would suggest you post the page links to the latest Irish Cave reports on Cavediver.net or else copy the whole report here in the Cave Section and see what happens.

Problem I have is finding others to dive with, Id rather be off knee high in mud trying to get my wide load into an entrance of a cave than reading about other peoples expeditions and dives.  Ive posted looking for a diver to buddy up with in regard to caving, but if any groups are heading out, if they didnt mind another body, Id be glad to tag along, I find its more difficult to organize than say a wreck dive.  I have read all the reports on the new dives and would love a chance to dive them with others who have been there before.
Cheers,
Graham

Good one Artur. Hope to see more posts from you. ;)

Apart from the wreck diving where looting wrecks is one of the primary discipline of some local individuals.
